KRISTIANE VAN LIERDE
Prof Van Lierde is full professor at the Ghent University, Department of Rehabilitation Sciences (Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences). For 2015 until 2018, she was additionally appointed as extraordinary professor at the University of Pretoria (South Africa). Her research expertise is the assessment and treatment of voice, resonance, articulation and oral myofunctional disorders. In this field of study, she authored 140 peer-reviewed publications in high-ranked A1, peer-reviewed journals, of which 44 as the first author and 59 as last author. Furthermore, she is the (co-)supervisor of 8 finished PhD projects and 5 running PhD projects. She is the co-editor of two international A1 journals and she was co-supervisor of a VLIR-UOS project. She presented her research at several national and international conferences (>100), and organized 19 national conferences. Her clinical expertise is illustrated by her leading role as speech language pathologist of the multidisciplinary craniofacial team and the voice clinic of the Ghent University Hospital. Moreover, she supervised more than 100 master theses and honours program students. As professor at the Ghent University, she is the head of the Master of Science educational program in Logopaedic and Audiological Sciences. Furthermore, she is chair of the committee of internationalization of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and member of the scientific committee of this Faculty. Additionally, she is a member of the Flemish and Dutch society for craniofacial anomalies and the Royal Academy of Medicine Belgium.
