Kakia Petinou is an Associate Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, School of Health Sciences, program of Speech and Language Pathology at the Technological University Cyprus as well as founder and director of the research laboratory “TheraLab” at Cyprus University of Technology. She has been an active member of the Child Language Committee (CLC) of the International Association of Logopedics and the chair of the IALP newly founded Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Her research interests lie in typical and atypical language development of toddlers and children with a focus on late talkers, early speech correlates of developmental apraxia of speech, phonological and semantic interface, systematic intervention in speech sound disorders and clinical practices in ASD. Her research interests lie also on the development of valid and reliable assessment tools for evaluation, diagnosis and intervention of speech and language disorders in children
