OBITUARY KEN WATKIN

KEN WATKIN served as a member of the IALP Board and as secretary of the Board from 2010 to 2016. He was instrumental in setting up the IALP website. Further, he served as a member of the Dysphagia committee. In 2019 he received the Long Standing International Award  from IALP for his contribution to the organization.

Ken was a giant researcher and educator who had the power to make the interlocutor feel like the most important person in the world, by the quality of attention he directed to those whom he spoke to. The welcoming feeling, readiness to share his knowledge and empathic understanding  made him a true master of communication. His smile was truly contagious.

Our fondest memory of Ken was his interests in developing a helmet to protect athletes from head injury.  With all the interest in concussion and traumatic brain injury among even our youngest athletes, Ken was ahead of his time.

An e-book of condolences is available should anyone wishes to leave a message of sympathy and respect via:

He will be missed.

May KEN rest in peace
