KAP Newsletter – Language Translations and Virtual Assistant

Welcome to the Knowledge Action Portal (KAP) newsletter – a biweekly summary of the community-driven platform for noncommunicable disease (NCD) information,
interaction and inspiration, hosted by the World Health Organization.

KAP Language Translations

The KAP is now available in all 6 of the official UN languages. Users can view, navigate, and contribute to the site in Arabic, English, French, Mandarin, Russian, and Spanish.

Access the new language features through the following steps:

1. Visit www.who.int/kap
2. Find and click the language tab in the top right corner of the page.
3. Select and click the desired language.
4. Explore and contribute to the various sections of the KAP, now fully translated to the chosen language.

Virtual Assistant

The KAP has become the first WHO platform to incorporate an artificial intelligence virtual assistant to increase usability to navigate the site. Ari, the KAP’s ‘chatbot,’ can answer questions on various aspects of the site, provide links based on users’ needs, and is active 24 hours a day. The virtual assistant is currently available in English and will be available in all 6 official UN languages in due course.

KAP User Survey

We extend thanks to our valued KAP users who have provided their inputs to the newly launched KAP User Survey. The purpose of the survey is to garner feedback for the KAP from a range of users, including GCM participants, key stakeholders, and individuals within the global health and NCD community. The survey focuses on the first phase of development (launched in November 2018) and will remain open until 31 July.

The survey, which takes only 15 minutes to complete, aligns with the KAP’s ethos of being a community-driven platform dedicated to responding to users’ wants and needs. The feedback collected will directly guide the second phase of development of the KAP, to be implemented by late 2019.

As valued members of the KAP community, we look forward to your participation in the survey and to engaging with you further.
